golden number 28

my 28th birthday was super awesome, filled with many of my FAVORITE things (the best sign of a good birthday). manicure with the little girly girls, packages with favorite gummy bears from  sweet friends, my favorite King's donuts for breakfast, going to six flags and riding an Elephant AND eating my very favorite cotton candy, and a hot date with my favorite human to see my favorite Jack Johnson. um can somebody pinch me please? twenty-eight is GREAT.

we got super lucky to go to this concert -- it was a lottery because the venue was so small...and somehow M scored me some tickets as a surprise for my birthday. the best part was that somehow we were able to get down to the front right by the stage - so we were sooooooooo close for the show! i could almost touch Jack. (why does that sound creepy) gosh i love that guy. such a cool dude.

little happies

some things that have been making me happy lately:

lots of backyard picnics and BBQ's

checking on Ellie before going to bed and seeing her fast asleep with her princess gloves on

a cookies + milk party at the temple with my favorite people

going to a Carnival with friends- and enjoying the cute rides and over-priced games with good friends

snacking on a big plate of veggies with both girls fighting over who gets the last carrot or green pepper

both girls napping for the first time in months and months and months, thus giving me the chance to lay out, read magazines, and paint nails (a mama's dream!)

a disastrous garage transformed into a very organized one, thanks to a free Saturday and mr. M

greek yogurt + honey, granola & fresh berries

receiving "mail" under my door during quiet time

spontaneous heat wave resulting in a spontaneous pool party, which means undies + pure joy for these little girls

Mitt Romney winning 5 primaries this week- love that Mitt

pushing my stroller all the way up a really steep hill on my run, then letting little Alice run free

getting to attend Stake Conference on the temple grounds- and having a picnic lunch on the grass afterwards

snuggling up on the couch to watch American Idol (even though i'm still bitter that Colton is gone)

...and on that note, Phillip Phillips is now performing. and so i'm now distracted...and i've got to get my vote on. because another one of my favorites is NOT going home. love that Phillip.

love week: i love pinterest.

my life has changed both for the better and the worse since i discovered Pinterest (just ask M)- but in spite of the worse, i love it.

i love how endless the ideas and inspirations are that come from Pinterest.
i love how i can finally tell what my taste is, and how i want to decorate my home (i know, i've been on my own for almost 10 years and still hadn't been able to identify what i really like for my own house. now i do. and it's expensive.)
i love how it gives me fashion ideas- using items in my closet in a different way than i had ever thought of.
i love how many delicious recipes there are -- i have tried several that are keeeeeeeepers.
i love finding cool photos and snapshots to try to recreate.
i love all the free stuff and printables that i find, that i would have otherwise not have found.
i love how it makes one place for me to find websites, recipes, and wishlists.
i love seeing what my friends and family pin. i specifically love snatching all of my sister's pins- she's always been so fashion-forward, creative, and artsy.
i love all the resources i've found for planning and decorating parties. there's some dang cute stuff out there.
and i love how i can spend a little time on Pinterest and feel like i just went window shopping or even real shopping, all while in my PJ's and without breaking the bank.

a disclaimer about Pinterest: i am not rich, nor do i have 1/10th of the things i pin. i don't even purchase 1/10th of the things i pin. it's more like playing house for me, and getting ideas. sure, it kind of makes me greedy. like i want wayyyy too many clothes that i'll never ever in a million trillion years be able to afford. and my house doesn't come close to measuring up to the rooms on my boards look. and i've only done about 1/5th of the projects i've pinned. but that's 1/5th more than the projects i have done before, i now have a great eye at TJ Maxx and Marshall's for what i really want to add to my wardrobe, and i know which direction to start in my house. and so, i remain pinterestingly loyal.
