once upon a Christmas..

we picked out our first real christmas tree at our neighborhood Christmas tree lot...

we trimmed the tree...

...including some new lil additions...

{representing Ellie's first year of dance}

 {representing nothing really...}

we visited Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom...

i enjoyed a girls night with friends and appetizers...

we endured Holiday hustling and bustling...and traffic (ick)

we were spoiled by Secret Santa...who kept us smiling every night...

we parked to watch the "crazy lights" at a house in a nearby neighborhood...

...and Ellie asked to see the "crazy lights" every time we got in the car...

... & we ran nto friends parked to see the "crazy lights"....

Ellie made Christmasy art projects made at Joy School...

...and i made my crafty Christmas Card wreath...

we sent out our Christmas card...to only 1/2 of you. sorry if you never got one. i had the best of intentions, i swear...

we watched "A Very Merry Christmas" sing-a-long VHS over...and over...and over again. yes, i said VHS. as in, i watched this same VHS when i was a tiny tot. and yes, Ellie is watching it in a baby Duck bath...

video proof of Ellie's "Very Merry Christmas" VHS obsession:

we went to see "the biiiigggg tree" in Downtown Walnut Creek...where Ellie insisted on wearing a summer dress with her pig hat...and getting her to wear a sweater and tights with it was the worst experience of her life...and mine too...

we sang at our ward Christmas party and i discovered the divinity of Oreo truffles..

we received lots of delicious treats from neighbors and friends...

we baked the secret chocolate peppermint cookie...and relished in its deliciousnes...

we made the crazy voyage to San Clemente (destination family + Christmas) which included single lane freeways in LA, sick babies, yelling, blown tire, being escorted off the freeway because of a hot pursuit, witnessing the hot pursuit (helicopter spotlight and all) missing jack, witnessing a drug deal, the drug dealer loaning us his jack and basically changing the tire for us, and finally arriving after 3 am...

we arrived to the most perfectly decorated house ever...complete with the cutest Disney tree ever to exist...

we reunited cousins...

and enjoyed lots of hugs...

and baby snuggles...

and we took turns laughing laughs that make your tummy hurt....

we danced...

...and partied like crazy fools...

we talked about the Savior. and rejoiced in his birth and life.

we made delicious food...

{PW's twice baked potatoes. mmmm.}

{M with the ham?}

...and feasted on the deliciousness...

we enjoyed old traditions- including pj's, flan, bingo, peppermint cookies, our very own Gifts to the Savior, watching lots of Christmas movies (even if they were mostly Mickey Mouse ones), lots of music, and lots of singing (even if i was terribly off key...yikes)...

we created new traditions- including an ornament exchange, razzleberry pie, a children-ized version of the Nativity Story, the most pathetic yankee swap to ever exist...and a family t-shirt contest...

we left cookies out for Santa...drew him a picture...and weren't thrilled about having to go to bed...

{"i DON'T WANT TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!"}
(her very unfortunate, very favorite words right now)

we woke up...and realized it was Christmas morning...and clapped because the most generous Santa ever had come...

...and made everyone in la casa muy happy

we did lots of playing with all the loot...

and then even experienced a very Christmasy Disneyland ...at maximum capacity....(didn't even know that was possible)

(more pictures to come of Disneyland soon)

and guess what? it was as magical as ever.
and that's how i felt about our Christmas.
as magical as ever.
we were blessed.
and spoiled.
and recharged.
and are already missing the magicalness of togetherness.

and that's just Christmas...
more to come on our Holiday Break soon.
xoxo

Great post Marce! Looks like you had a great holiday! Isn't Christmas with kids like a million times better? We also have a "crazy lights" house in our neighborhood. They even have a tiny lighted town inside that they open up to the neighborhood on weeknights from 7-9! Gotta love it!

A couple of things:

a. Merry Christmas love.

b. I love your family! My only interactions have been with your mom via cheerleading and your brother, but I love their spunkiness and musicality. Can you adopt me?

c. Your haircut looks fabulous, hot mama.

and d... I love your guts! Hope you had a fabulous holiday season. P.S. remind me to tell you sometime about the bizarr-o dream I had about you.

love love love all the pictures. I feel especially blessed to be in one of them... your holiday picture wreath is so cute. I love it. You are so creative. Lezlee and I had a presidency meeting yesterday and we talked about how we missed you. :-) We were reminding ourselves about one of the girls favorite salsa making activities. :-) It is still talked about. Miss you!
